Jingle of bells better than Christmas for young cancer patient

THE JINGLE of bells in January was much better than a visit from Santa for ten-year-old Harry Cross.

The youngster was diagnosed with Burkitt’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – a cancer of the immune cells – last spring.

But following a tough course of chemotherapy at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Harry was given the all clear.

And the young patient finally had the chance to ring a bell especially for children who have finished a successful course of treatment.

Dad Gary Cross said: “All this will be a big step for our son, and start off our new year with good hope.

“Harry’s family would like to thank everybody who was involved in his recovery.”

Harry – who has a twin brother George – is described as kind and a happy member of his class at school.
