PETANQUE: THERE is reason to be cheerful at Solihull Blossomfield Petanque Club.
Gary Durant, Carol Cox and Barry Cox won the championship at their home club on Sunday, July 17, following a strong morning session with wins against Stockton and Kenilworth.
A tough fixture against Hereford saw Gary, Carol, and Barry struggle to stay in contention – and after 75 minutes of play they were 9-12 down.
But the visiting side cracked under pressure as Solihull picked up the four points required to win 13-12.
In the final, Solihull came up against Kenilworth.
The all-round experience of the Solihull team gave them the edge.
The trio attacked and defended well when necessary to win 13-5.
Blossomfield will now play at the Champions event in October.
