Solihull children urged to remain after vigilant after another Stranger Danger incident

Solihull Editorial 29th Jun, 2017   0

CHILDREN in Solihull are again being urged to remain vigilant following another ‘stranger danger’ incident.

The alarm was raised and warnings were issued to parents by Hockley Heath Academy on Friday (June 23) after a child was approached on their way to school.

The driver of a car, thought to be a taxi, approached a child at the junction of Aylesbury Road and Stratford Road and the driver asked if they wanted a taxi.

The child said no, ran off and reported the incident to school and the police.

The incident comes just two weeks after a 12-year-old boy was approached on his way home by a couple in a car and tried to entice him into their car.

The boy in this incident also refused and told his parents when he got home – sparking warnings and calls for vigilance from the school and police.

WEST Midlands Police have issued the following advice to children:

* Never go off on your own with a stranger, take things from them or get in a car with them.

* Make sure you tell your parents where you are.

* If someone scares you, or makes you feel uncomfortable go somewhere safe, which could be your home, your school or a police station.

* Remember to tell someone what has happened straight away.

* Always dial 999 in an emergency.
