THREE ‘delightful’ Dorridge gardens will be open to the public this Sunday (June 25) to raise money for National Gardens Scheme Cancer Care Beneficiaries.
The three properties are:
* 44 Avenue Road, where visitors will find a lovely, informal, cottage-style garden loving created by its owners over the last 30 years.
* Carnlea, Temple Road – a glorious garden featuring island beds, a rose-clad pergola, acers, shrubs and perennials. The garden has been totally redesigned over a number of years by its enthusiastic plantswoman owner.
* 75 Blue Lake Road – a lovely half-acre garden, laid with lawns, hedges, topiary and deep herbaceous borders, bursting with colourful perennials.
Paths lead to secret corners and sitting areas, including a gazebo by a large pond, a wonderful spot to sit quietly and look for wildlife, incl newts, water boatmen and the occasional toad.
The gardens will be open from 1.30pm to 5.30pm – Admission is £5.50 for entry to all three gardens. Under 16s go free.
Homemade teas will be available at Carnlea and 44 Avenue Road is the only property with wheelchair access.
