Solihull Editorial 23rd Apr, 2017   0

BALSALL COMMON singer-songwriter Chris Tye is set to launch his second album, Stronger In Numbers, this weekend.

The long-awaited successor to 2014’s The Paper Grenade, Stronger In Numbers will be officially launched at Ort, Birmingham, on Saturday (April 22), where Chris will be performing with a minimal backing band comprising of guitar, piano and percussion.

With guest appearances from a string of fellow West Midlands artists, including Dan Whitehouse, Vijay Kishore, Jayne Powell and Boat To Row frontman Michael King, as well as a co-write with Jo Hamilton (the rich No Sing), the album was recorded in Kings Heath over two months with producer and long-time collaborator Michael Clarke.

Chris said: “I love working with Michael, I’ve known him for a long time and we’ve got to the stage where we seem to know what the other one is thinking without saying anything.

“We’re both big fans of the classic singer songwriter style, artists like John Martyn, Dylan, Neil Young – but we also love the big sound created by bands like The Shins, The Cure, The National, The Verve.

“We’re trying to fuse those two genres on this record without diluting either one too much.”
