AN AMAZING story of a family’s struggle with breast cancer and ultimately grief and loss is being told in an inspiring new book.
Believed to be the first UK book of its type penned by an Asian man, Cancer, A Journey’s End tells the inspiring story of Tanvi Naik, a lovely wife and mother and of the family’s journey during her two-year battle with cancer.
Tanvi Passed away on June 5, 2014 leaving behind a husband and two young girls.
Written by her husband, Prashant Naik, the book isn’t just about their story, but is also about reaching out to other husbands and dads who may be going through the same experience.
Their two children, Kira and Anjali, were helped by a book about cancer written for children, but there were no books for Prashant who suddenly found himself having to cope with all the daily demands of family life at the same time as supporting his wife and dealing with his own emotions, especially when Tanvi’s cancer became terminal.
“At school I was useless at English, so writing a book was really the last thing I wanted to do, said Prashant.
“But, I wanted something good to come out of all this to help others, especially men, going through the same experience and writing a book was the answer.
“This is not just about my journey, but ours, not just about my wife but everyone’s partner.
“There are thousands of people going through a similar experience with terminal cancer and if the words I’ve written can help anyone else, especially in the dark times, then there is hope.”
The book also reflects the Christian faith the family share and reflects on how their journey was not only medical but also interwoven with struggling to find where a loving, caring God was in the midst of loss and grief.
Being part of Renewal Christian Centre in Solihull was an enormous help to the family, where Prashant and his two young girls stillattend.

“Taking Tanvi’s funeral was an occasion I will never forget. I was deeply moving for everyone but also uplifting in that their obvious faith played a big part in getting them through it all. This book reflects that and will encourage everyone of faith or none to know that death is not the end and that help and hope are real.”
