Brothers share Taekwondo success in Stratford Upon Avon

TAEKWONDO: TWO brothers have reason to celebrate after earning black belt grading in Stratford Upon Avon earlier this month.

Akashdeep and Anikait Kandola, who train at Solihull Taekwondo Club, have been taking part in Taekwondo for five years and have worked their way up to the highest coloured belt together.

Coach Carlton Berridge said one in 20 students progress towards black belt status, so to have two brothers achieve the feat during the same session is quite rare.

He added: “To earn the black belt they both had to go through a tough warm up session before sessions of kicking, punching and set movements followed.


“They train once a week in Solihull and practise in Stratford weekly too with all grades.

“Generally we’d see one in every 20 students go on to achieve a black belt – so to have Akashdeep and Anikait pick up their belts together was something special.

“I’m very proud of them both and hopefully they can both go on to achieve further success in the future.”
