CHARITABLE residents at a Solihull care home have knitted a collection of poppies for the Royal British Legion.
Residents at Sunrise Solihull came up with the idea to knit for charity in preparation for the annual Remembrance Sunday services and Armistice Day.
However it’s not just been red poppies flying off the shelves, as people of all ages have been requesting the knitted flowers in a range of colours and sizes.
The six ladies meet several times a week and have been knitting away for two months, all funds raised from the knitted poppies will be donated to the British Legion – a UK charity providing lifelong support for the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans, and their families.
Elaine Doyle, registered manager at Sunrise Solihull, praised the ladies for their efforts and said the more support they receive the better as they count down to tomorrow’s moment of silence and reflection.
