'Come out and play' in Mell Square this summer

MELL Square is set to host a series of events this summer in the hopes of encouraging borough residents to ‘come out to play’.

Throughout August the shopping quarter will host fun activities for all the family, including outdoor games, stalls, street food and live music.

The square will also be transformed into a relaxing oasis with AstroTurf, deck chairs, white picket fencing, benches and a small gazebo being places outside Costa to create the perfect spot for a family picnic.

There will be free events each weekend in August, held in partnership with Solihull BID, to keep big kids and little ones entertained this summer.




Family Football weekend will run from Thursday, August 11 until Sunday, August 14 and will give attendees the chance to show off their footie skills in tootball ‘freestyler ‘Zone, Street Wise Soccer, mini football, a speed shot challenge, inflatable target shot and and inflatable pitch challenge.

From Thursday, August 18 until Sunday, August 21 bikers will be able to test their test your BMX skills on the track area, go for a ride on the mountain bike skills loop and learn some essential bike maintenance on their own bikes or one of the company’s.


The last weekend in August will see Mell Square play host to four days of fairground fun, including traditional stalls hook a duck and coconut shy, as well as craft workshops for children aged two to 11, and bungee trampolines for the more adventurous.

There will also be a bar, street food and live music to keep the adults happy.
