Birmingham City Ladies star Corina Shroeder in the frame to win top German award

BIRMINGHAM City Ladies defender Corina Shroeder has been nominated for a prestigious international award alongside the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos and Miroslav Klose.

The initiative German Football Ambassador has nominated 11 players who are currently playing abroad and are contributing a positive image of Germany in the world.

Blues Ladies star Shroeder has been nominated for her engagement on and of the pitch.

Public voting is now open and every participant has three votes to choose their favourite players with voting set to close on April 25.




Currently Liverpool star Emre Can is leading the voting followed by Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and Shroeder is third.

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony on May 11 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.


The nominees are: Emre Can (Liverpool FC), Mario Gomez (Besiktas Istanbul), Robert Huth (Leicester City FC), Miroslav Klose (Lazio Rom), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal FC), Anja Mittag (FC Paris Saint-Germain), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid FC), Corina Schroeder (Birmingham City FC), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Manchester United FC), Marc André ter Stegen (Barcelona FC), Kevin Trapp (FC Paris Saint-Germain).
