POLICE are urging Silhillians to remain mindful this Halloween.
While the witching hour may be upon us, officers are reminding the public that the spooky holiday may not be welcomed by all.
With the clocks going back and darker nights drawing in, the seasonal fun can prove distressing for some.
Residents who don’t wish to be disturbed are being invited to place a free ‘No trick or treats, thank you’ sign in their door.
The signs will be handed out by officers and availble for friends, relatives and neighbours of elderly residents able to print a card off from the West Midlands Police website to place in their window during their next visit.
Trick-or-treaters are also being urged to plan their route in advance, ensure their family know where they are, ideally be accompanied by a trusted adult, to remain cautious around strangers, and to never go inside a house.
Lastly, officers remind people not to suffer in silence and to report any anti-social behaviour to police by calling 101.
