BISHOP Wilson Primary School enjoyed a morning of cuppas and cakes in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, raising an amazing £1171.45 for the charity.
As part of the national Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday (September 25), parents, staff and residents came together to support the charity by taking part in raffles and tucking into homemade cakes all while being treated to singing from the pupils.
Trish Purnell, senior lunchtime supervisor at the school and mother of star chef Glynn Purnell, has now been organising the coffee morning at the school for ten years and was delighted to have broken last year’s record of £944.
Trish said: “I was keen to see the event become even bigger this year.
“Glynn was able to donate some hampers and a signed cookbook, as well as lots of other prizes from local businesses and volunteers.
“The charity means a lot to me and I’m proud we have managed to put on one of the biggest events in the West Midlands.”
