Warwickshire Bears on the lookout for a new home venue

WARWICKSHIRE Bears wheelchair basketball club could find themselves without a home next year.

The news that Henley College is to close has stunned the players and could prove a devastating setback for the thriving club which plays in Division Two South of the British Wheelchair Basketball league.

Head coach, Tom Masterson, said: “It is a major blow to the club as we need to now try to find a new home venue that can also accommodate the storage of the wheelchairs plus club equipment and that has availability for practice nights as well as hosting games at weekends.

“As you can see from the list of requirements it is going to be a major challenge to find anywhere.

“It could even mean that we may be forced to look at other regions which is the last thing we want to do as all the players feel extremely proud to represent Warwickshire. It could also mean the loss of another disabled sports club in this area.

“I will keep trying to find somewhere as long as I can.”
