Rainbow was a message from my son

IT seems Joseph approves of our work in his name – that was how Andy Foote described a rainbow that arched over the headquarters of the charity he set up in his son’s name almost 15 years ago.

Mr Foote arrived at work at Joseph House on Stratford Road in Shirley last Thursday morning to what he described as a message from Joe.

The Brain Tumour Charity was set up as the Joseph Foote Foundation in 2000 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour which eventually claimed his life aged just nine-years-old in 2007. It has grown into the largest such charity in the world.

Mr Foote said: “We employ 60 people and are funding £13m of research into brain tumours each year to raise the survival rate from the dismal 15 per cent it currently is.

“We provide support to tens of thousands of families across the UK who are living with the nightmare a brain tumour brings, and we want to stop this happening to other families in the future.”

“It seems Joseph approves of our work in his name. We’ve had a great reaction to the photo and thought your readers might like it too.”
