A BIRMINGHAM man has appeared in court charged with vehicle thefts across Solihull.

Mohammed Hussain, aged 27 was charged with eight counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and two other driving offences: driving without insurance, and driving whilst disqualified.

It comes after enquiries by the Solihull Neighbourhood Crime Team, and Solihull Vehicle Crime Team, into several offences over the last two months.

West Midlands Police said:” Since June 8, our teams had been investigating the thefts of eight cars, which had been stolen from addresses in Solihull, Birmingham, and Oldbury.

“During one of the thefts, in Solihull, a man was injured as his vehicle was stolen.

“Hussain was arrested on July 17 and was subsequently charged before appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday (July 20).

“Vehicle crime isn’t tolerated in Solihull or anywhere in the West Midlands, and we’re working hard to tackle it.”
