WEST Midlands Police has been handed the highest performance grading.
The force has been assigned ‘level one’ by police watchdog His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service (HMICFRS), in the policing performance system.
Each force has been assigned a performance level by inspectors with the scores ranging from one (the highest) to four (in need of special measures).
The grading was welcomed by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Simon Foster.
Mr Foster said: “This highest performance grading illustrates the significant progress made by the force in recent years and is a credit to the commitment, dedication, hard work and professionalism of our police officers and staff.
“Whilst this is pleasing, it is not a moment for any complacency. My priority remains preventing and tackling crime, rebuilding community policing and keeping people, families, businesses and communities safe and secure.
“As PCC, I am committed to constant and unremitting action to ensure this progress is not only maintained but that there is continuous improvement.”
