KNOWLE Ladies clinched the league title with two games left to play following a 3-2 victory against Bromsgrove Sporting.
The Solihull club only needed a point from the fixture to claim the West Midlands Regional League Division One title.
And the women’s side marked their 25th year and Knowle’s centenary year by winning the league title at the Draintech Community Ground.
Knowle survived a scare early on as Ash Kennedy blazed a shot over the bar for the visitors when well-placed.
The home side responded as Darcey Garner saw her shot deflected into the side netting while Tina Greaves saw her effort whistle past the post.
However, Bromsgrove broke the deadlock on 27 minutes as Sophie Taylor finished past Sophie Henness in the Knowle goal.
Knowle equalised later in the first half Greaves chased a seemingly lost cause and delivered a ball into the box which Demi Booth headed into the net.
The Rouslers spurned a golden chance to reclaim the lead when Sade Alaka’s penalty hit the post after Greaves pulled Abi Bourne to the ground in the box at a corner.
The home side completed the turnaround after the break as Garner blasted a free-kick from 30-yards out past Maya Smailes in the Sporting net despite the goalkeeper getting her fingertips to the strike.
Knowle dominated the chances thereafter and extended their lead when Greaves lashed home a loose ball through a crowd of bodies.
Bromsgrove reduced the deficit five minutes from time as Ash Kennedy looped a shot over Henness from out wide.
However, the Robins closed out the remaining minutes to clinch the title with Knowle to receive the league trophy after their final home game of the season this weekend.
Knowle host Leamington Ladies on Sunday, May 10 with kick-off at 2pm at the Draintech Community Ground.
