A BALSALL Common school has been handed an award for its commitment to supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development.

Balsall Common Primary School Academy received the National Nurturing Schools Award following a year of assessments.

Pupils were praised for exemplary behaviour and showing kindness and respect.

The school was also praised for its ‘passionate leadership’ and ‘deeply embedded nurturing ethos’, with relationships and belonging at the heart of an environment where children feel valued and ready to learn.

The report also praised strong partnerships with families and the community, noting a ‘family feel’ with parents valuing the school’s personalised approach and understanding that every child is unique.

Deputy headteacher, Manpreet Bains, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this award. It reflects the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and, most importantly, the wonderful children who make our schools such a special place.

“We firmly believe that prioritising children’s personal development and wellbeing ultimately leads to academic success. This also goes deeper than that – we want children to achieve their very best, but also to grow into kind, respectful and morally responsible members of society who make a positive difference to the world.”
