Grants on offer for school breakfast clubs

APPLICATIONS are open for schools to get up to £1,000 for help support to run breakfast clubs.

The grants, provided by Kellogg’s, are available to primary and secondary schools across the West Midlands, as well as school-based nurseries for the first time.

The cash grants can be used to supercharge a school’s breakfast club offering, funding anything from equipment and staff to creative resources.

In the last academic year, 60 schools across West Midlands received a Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grant to further the important impact of their breakfast clubs.

Research from Kellogg’s revealed a third of teachers say they see hungry children arriving at school every day and 97 per cent of teachers believe that arriving at school hungry affects educational progress.

Andrew Ridge, Social Impact Manager at Kellogg’s, said: “School breakfast clubs are a lifeline for many families across the UK — offering childcare, a morning meal, and a welcoming start to the day. We’re delighted to announce that our grants programme is open and continues supporting the incredible work of breakfast clubs nationwide.

“This year, we are expanding our breakfast club grants programme to include school-based and school-run nurseries in England and Wales. Extending our programme will help us make an impact through earlier intervention—because we know just how important a good breakfast is for all ages.”

Since 1998, Kellogg’s has invested over £6million providing grants to over 3,000 school breakfast clubs, focusing on communities with high rates of poverty.
