COMMUNITY groups, care providers and charities were on hand at a Pensioners’ Fair.

Saqib Bhatti, Meriden and Solihull East MP, welcomed all to his Pensioners’ Fair at Knowle Village Hall.

The event was designed to support older members of the community by giving them direct access to organisations offering advice, information, and practical support on a wide range of issues, including health and social care, digital inclusion, housing, transport, wellbeing, and opportunities to stay active and connected within the community.

Throughout the day residents were given the chance to speak one-to-one with stall holders, share experiences, and learn about the help and services available in Solihull.

The event also provided an opportunity to tackle loneliness and social isolation, helping older residents feel informed, supported, and valued.

Organisations including Age UK Solihull, Healthwatch Solihull and Birmingham, Family Care Trust and Alzheimer’s Society were in attendance.

The Pensioners’ Fair forms part of Mr Bhatti’s work to ensure older residents across the constituency are listened to, supported, and able to access the services they need to live full and independent lives.

The Conservative MP said: “I’m delighted my Pensioners’ Fair has become a major event in the Meriden and Solihull East calendar.

“I am especially grateful to all the fantastic stall holders who gave up their time to offer advice, information, and support on such a wide range of issues. Their dedication and commitment to helping local residents is truly appreciated and makes a real difference to people’s lives.

“I would also like to thank the many local pensioners and residents who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their experiences. It was wonderful to see the hall so busy, welcoming, and engaged, and to witness the strong sense of community that exists here in Knowle and across Meriden and Solihull East.”
