BIRMINGHAM and Solihull Bees continued their promotion charge with a nine-try 59-17 bonus point win against Harborne.
The trio of Harry Garratt, Joel Smyth and Joe Rogers all crossed twice while Ryan Sleaford, Cam May and Storm Atkins also dotted down for the Bees at Westhill Close.
And the result means Solihull sit third in the Counties 2 Midlands West (East) table, one point behind Bromsgrove II and Barkers Butts.
The Bees scored the game’s first try when Atkins executed a 50/22 kick and Sleaford dotted down under the posts from the resulting lineout.
Harborne then saw a try disallowed after a home player grounded the ball behind the try line much to the confusion of players and spectators.
And Solihull made the most of that reprieve to score two tries in quick succession as Garratt broke free from the halfway line to touch down.
The Bees struck again from the restart when Atkins broke the line and ran in unopposed.
Solihull scored their bonus point try on the half-hour mark as Garratt finished in the corner following a tap and go penalty.
Harborne responded with a try of their own shortly before half time as the Bees took a commanding 21-point lead into the break.
The home side remained on top early in the second period and scored their second try before Rogers received a yellow card for using his hands in the ruck.
However, the Bees soaked up Harborne’s pressure before Rogers touched down shortly after his return to the pitch.
And Solihull scored another try from the restart as Atkins fed Smyth who crossed for his first try of the game.
The visitors continued to play free-flowing rugby despite the torrential conditions as May ran in under the posts from 22-metres out.
And May then handed off a defender before popping the ball into the path of Smyth who crossed for his second try.
Harborne scored their third try and went in search of a bonus point only for Rogers to score the game’s final try from a tap penalty.
Birmingham and Solihull are next in action against Claverdon on Saturday, November 29 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Portway.
