AN ADAPTIVE athlete from Solihull won a silver medal representing Great Britain at the EJU Open European Adapted Judo Championships.
George Light took silver in the (M2 +90kg) category to help Britain top the medal table in Conegliano, Italy.
Light claimed three wins from four pool matches as he defeated Italy’s Michele La Torre and Dutch opponents Jurgen van der Heijden and Koen Hoogeveen.
However, he suffered defeat against Poland’s Fabian Szymaniec who won all four of his pool matches to take gold.
Britain won a total of 16 medals at the European Championships made up of six golds, seven silvers and three bronzes.
Light won another silver medal at the Dutch Open shortly after his success at the European Championships.
The Solihull judoka is a self-funded athlete and trains at Solihull Judo Academy who help fund some of the equipment he uses.
