A NEWLY ordained deacon has been welcome in Tanworth-in-Arden.
Wendy Terry has been appointed to work alongside the Rev Chris Kennedy at St Mary Magdalene.
Wendy has been very active in supporting the worship and other activities of the Church for many years and, following a period of training for the role, has now been ordained as a Deacon by The Bishop of Aston, the Right Reverend Esther Prior, in a special service in Birmingham Cathedral.
Wendy said: “For some years, my experience has included working closely with those in need of help and support in our parish and the recognition means that I can take this much further.”
Wendy’s ordination means that she can undertake many of the duties of a vicar and her plan is to work alongside Rev Kennedy, who was appointed as Vicar of the church almost two years ago.
Chris said: “We are seeing a real and renewed enthusiasm in our village for our church and Wendy’s ordination, and appointment provides a real opportunity to capitalise on this and to reach out to those both in our parish and elsewhere where there is need.”
