A FOOTBALL fanatic has rung the bell after completing chemotherapy and is now cancer free.
Jack Light, who plays for Hampton FC, had treatment for Hogkins Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes.
He was given the news he was all clear in July – on the same day he saw Oasis play at Heaton park in Manchester.
To celebrate the news Jack and his family had a party at the Saxon Pub in Cheswick Green with family, friends and a surprise appearance from ex-Aston villa player Gareth Barry.
Following his diagnosis earlier this years his friends rallied round to show their support and raised £5,747.55 in his honour for various charities and Solihull hospital’s haematology and oncology day unit.
His team mates shaved their heads in solidarity with the 20-year-old, who started to lose his hair as a side affect of his treatment.
Some of Jacks college friends, who are ex- Birmingham city academy players, ran from the Saxon pub to villa park and back in support of Jack and to raise money for charity, a total distance of 26.2 miles.
And others took on the Solihull half marathon and the Solihull race for life in his honour.
