Community project to support North Solihull residents

A NEW project aimed at supporting residents in North Solihull to re-engage with learning and skills development in a drive to help their local community has been launched.

Solihull College and University Centre’s project, funded by West Midlands Combined Authority, seeks to create social impact opportunities which will help individuals build confidence, learn new skills, and contribute positively to their local area.

Programme manager for community education at the Centre, Katrina Griffin-Jones, said it is a great opportunity for local people to create long lasting community projects.

She added: “This initiative is about empowering people who may feel disconnected from work or education to find a new sense of purpose through community-led projects. We want this to be a true collaboration – one that reflects the creativity, resilience, and aspirations of North Solihull residents.”

Solihull College and University Centre has a long-standing commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality learning opportunities that transform lives.

This new project will build on that mission by focusing on activities suggested by local residents such as community art, environmental action, and mental health projects.

Residents are encouraged to get involved by submitting their ideas for community projects that could make a difference in their neighbourhoods – from small-scale initiatives to larger collaborations.

The College is working alongside Solihull Council and other local organisations to spread the word about this groundbreaking project.
