FITNESS was at the heart of a makeover at a Solihull school.
Solihull Academy teamed up with David Lloyd Clubs to transform the alternative provision’s gym and sports hall in a DIY-SOS style transformation following a bid by Matt Gregor, cultural capital, community and careers lead for Solihull Academy.
Over four days, 12 skilled volunteers from David Lloyd Clubs’ Central Region team gave their time, energy, and expertise to transform areas of the Academy.
The gym has been completely repainted and refreshed, with brand new flooring mats and a suite of state-of-the-art fitness equipment generously donated by David Lloyd Clubs’, including two rowing machines, a spin bike, and one of the company’s Signature BLAZE punch bags.
The team also provided a new pickleball net, which was installed in the sports hall.
It was put to the ultimate test when Alisha Byrne, general manager of David Lloyd Cranmore, and Lauren Galpin, assistant manager, went head to head with pupils Omari and Eddie for a celebratory game.
