SOLIHULL Moors lost 2-0 away at managerless Hartlepool United as Matt Daly’s late goal condemned the visitors to defeat.

Moors fell behind to Vadaine Oliver’s audacious backheel before Daly sealed the points for the home side deep into injury time at the Prestige Group Stadium.

The result means Solihull sit 18th in the National League table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Hartlepool went into the fixture with veteran midfielder Nicky Featherstone in interim charge of the club.

Pools sacked former Leeds United boss Simon Grayson following a run of one win in 11 matches.

The home side broke the deadlock in style on 16 minutes when former Football League striker Oliver superbly flicked Luke Charman’s cross from the left into the bottom left corner.

Moors almost drew level just past the hour mark as debutant Tyrese Sinclair saw his curling effort come back off the post.

And Conor Wilkinson also spurned a golden chance to equalise eight minutes from time as Hartlepool goalkeeper George Evans stuck out a leg to deny the striker from close range.

Solihull thought they had rescued a point late on only for James Clarke to see his effort ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.

And Hartlepool sealed the points four minutes into injury time as Daly lashed a shot past Laurie Walker after Jamie Miley drove into the Moors penalty area.

Solihull are next in action against Truro City on Wednesday, November 5 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Damson Park.
