POLICE puppies and their kind-hearted volunteer walkers met with West Midlands Police’s chief constable at a special event.
They came together at the force’s dog unit in Balsall Common where chief constable Criag Guidlford thanked the volunteers for their incredible support to the dog unit this year, including at events such as Crufts and the National Police Dog Trials.
Puppy walkers give up their homes and spare time to help look after and raise the police puppies as they grow into some of the best police dogs in the country.
The volunteers came together to socialise the pups, who also took part in a training session.
Some of the volunteers have been puppy walking for more than 20 years and have helped hundreds of pups grow.
Dog Unit Inspector, Rachel Crump said: “Our volunteers are so important to us and the work we do.
“They have helped raise some incredible police dogs by giving up their homes and time to care for and nurture them.
“Our volunteers and their families play a very important role in the dog’s life, exposing them to different environments and social surroundings in the most crucial parts of their lives.
“It would be impossible to do this without them. I want to say a big thank you for their continued support.”
