Extra lunch places laid out as Shirley care home joins fight to combat loneliness

EXTRA spaces were laid for lunch at a Shirley care home in the fight to tackle loneliness.

Fountains Care Home welcomes residents from across the borough to join them for as meal as part of its Don’t Dine Alone Lunch.

And Solihull West and Shirley MP headed to the Stratford Road home to find out more.

He met residents, staff and those from the area taking part in the initiative and shared stories.

Visitor, Ronald, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed it meeting the MP was a great surprise he was a lovely gentlemen and took time to have a conversation with me and my son.

“I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing.




“Staff did a great job, and I truly enjoyed myself.’’

Yvonne Russon, operational manager at the home, said: “Staff at Fountains Care Home are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, and this event, along with all their hard work, has definitely paid off.


“It was a resounding success.”
