BLIND and partially sighted people will be coming together in Solihull to celebrate 50 years of British Blind Sport (BBS).

BBS at 50 Festival of Sport is set to welcome participants at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre on October 19.

From 10am until 3pm there will be three zones for attendees to enjoy and participate in throughout the day.

This includes an Activation Zone where participants can explore and take part in a range of inclusive sport and physical activity, a Partner Zone which will provide partners with the opportunity to showcase their work, connect with others in the field, and demonstrate how their sport is inclusive for blind and partially sighted people to participate in.

There will also be a BBS Celebration Zone which will highlight the 50-year history and achievements of the organisation.

Alaina MacGregor, chief executive of BBS, said: “As we celebrate 50 years of empowering blind and partially sighted people through sport and physical activity, we are thrilled to be hosting the BBS at 50 Festival of Sport event.

“This festival will incorporate three elements – activation, partnership, and celebration – and have something for everyone to enjoy. We’re incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are excited for what’s to come over the next 50 years.”
