GENEROUS Silhillians who donated food and toiletries to help families over the summer holidays have been thanked.
Howden Solihull teamed up with the Colebridge Trust, a community development trust to tackle the effects of deprivation and help Solihull residents into work and training.
Over the holidays the Eats and Treats collection supported 27 families, including 73 children, across the borough with essential breakfast and toiletry items.
Collette Eccleston, senior insurance consultant at Howden Solihull, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness of our community.
“Every box of cereal, every tube of toothpaste, each donation made a real difference.
“We’ve seen firsthand how vital this support has been for families who might otherwise go without. It’s been humbling and inspiring.”
The donations were delivered weekly to the Colebridge Trust, who hosted the summer breakfast club at the Evergreen Family Hub in Kingshurst.
The club not only provided nutritious meals but also offered a space for families to connect, access support, and feel part of a wider community.
Becci Fox, projects and partnerships manager at the Colebridge Trust, said: “Running a holiday breakfast club in Evergreen Family Hub has benefited the community by addressing holiday hunger, offering children a nutritious start to their day, and easing financial pressure on families.
“We have been able to provide a safe, structured environment that supports wellbeing, maintains routine, and fosters social development through shared meals and activities.
“Beyond the immediate impact on children, the club has strengthened local networks, reduced isolation, and provided a gateway to other support services. Along with Howden Insurance we have actively connected, supported, and celebrated the community.”
