OPTICIANS put their baking skills to the test to raise funds for charity.

Employees at Specsavers in Solihull hosted a summer-themed bake sale and raised more than £700 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team also held a book sale to add to the total, raising £340 for the charity that supports people living with cancer.

To add to the fundraising, Linda Clarke, supervisor, completed the Thames Path Might Hike, raising an impressive £442 for the donation pot.

Rehan Bhatti, store director at Specsavers Solihull, said: “As a team we were all keen to support Macmillan.

“Our customers and the local community are always so supportive of our fundraising.

“We know times continue to be tough at the moment, so we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved and donated.

“We’ll be holding some more fundraising events in-store during the next few months and we’re looking forward to raising as much as possible for Macmillan.”
