Solihull pupils celebrate GCSE success

SUCCESS was on the timetable for students in Solihull as they eagerly waited to find out their GCSE results.

Students across the borough travelled back to their schools or colleges to see if they got the grades needed to go to sixth form, college or earn an apprenticeship.

Solihull School

Solihull School has released a ‘stunning’ set of GCSE results with 79 per cent of all grades at 9 to 7, 59 per cent of all grades at 9 to 8 and 32 per cent of all grades at 9.

Furthermore, a 10 pupils achieved 10 or more Grade 9s, 28 pupils achieved 10 or more grades at 9 to 8 and 61 pupils achieved 8 or more grades at 9 to 8.

Charles Fillingham, executive headmaster said: “This is a stunning set of results, produced by an incredibly impressive group of young people. These results are a testament to the superb commitment, expertise and professionalism of our staff.”

Summit Learning Trust

Learners at the Summit Learning Trust, which oversees Cockshut Hill School, Lyndon School and Ninestiles, an Academy, celebrated ‘brilliant’ results.




At Lyndon School there were lots of great achievements including Michael Lok who has been exploring careers in the fields of business and mathematics.

He completed his work experience in a religious setting, focussed on business administration.


Michael was involved in learner leadership as deputy head prefect.

He is a keen writer, attending the Lyndon Creative Writing Club throughout Year 10, and entering multiple competitions, achieving a Principal’s Award for his effort and winning the KS3+ First Prize for his poem “Bee-cause of You” in the ‘Animals that Amaze Us’ category of the Solihull Children’s Book Group Poetry and Art Competition.

He achieved 10 9s and an L2M and will be heading to Solihull Sixth Form College.

Syreeta Kapswara, head of school, Lyndon School, said: “I am incredibly proud of our learners and staff for what they’ve achieved this year.

“These results are a direct reflection of the determination, positivity, and teamwork that runs through our school.

“It’s especially exciting to celebrate this success in a year we were nationally recognised for making a difference in education.”

At Cockshut Hill School there were also some brilliant results.

Adam Zang joined Cockshut Hill School at the beginning of KS4. He settled in exceptionally well and went on to achieve an excellent set of results. 7 grades 7-9 including English and Mathematics and 10 grades 6-9.

Hedaya Ghadamsi joined Cockshut Hill at the beginning of year 7 and has spent her 5 secondary education years there. She is leaving with an incredible set of results including 3 grade 9’s and 6 grade 8’s.

“The dedication shown by our students and the tireless support from staff and families have made all the difference.

“We’re delighted to see so many young people reaching their potential and taking confident steps toward their futures.”

At Ninestiles, an Academy, they were delighted to see excellent results across a wide range of subjects.

The school saw its highest ever exam results in the English Baccalaureate with significant gains in this most academic measure.

The number of learners achieving the prestigious grade 9 in maths increased this year.

Alex Hughes, principal at Ninestiles, said: “Our learners have demonstrated resilience, ambition, and a real determination to succeed. It has been inspiring to watch them grow throughout their time with us, and their achievements today reflect the high aspirations we hold for every individual at Ninestiles.”

Tudor Grange Academy

Tudor Grange Academy Solihull proudly announced its ‘exceptional’ GCSE results.

The school saw 72 per cent of pupils achieved a minimum grade 5 in English and maths.

Principal, Mrs Claire Smith, said: “GCSE exams take a tremendous amount of work and focus, and it’s such a pleasure to see this hard work paying off for so many of our pupils. We congratulate them, and extend our thanks to parents and carers, school staff and everyone within the Tudor Grange Academies Trust community for their continued and much-valued support.

“Of course, at Tudor Grange Academy Solihull, we also like to recognise the achievements of all our pupils beyond academic grades. Successes such as good attendance, building relationships and taking part in extra-curricular activities should all be celebrated. We wish all our pupils the very best for the future.”

WMG Academy Solihull

WMG Academy Solihull celebrated ‘outstanding’ GCSE results for all students in Year 11.

WMG Academy chief executive, Stewart Tait, said: “We are pleased that we are once again seeing real achievement across the ability range of students at WMG Academy Solihull with some fantastic individual results.

“I know that many of our students will continue their journey with us whilst others will go on to a wide range of other pathways with their impressive learning and business behaviours standing them in good stead. I personally congratulate the students and thank parents and carers for their patience and support as well as the staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication.”
