SOLIHULL Moors began their National League Cup campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against Everton under-21s.

Moors took the lead courtesy of a stunning strike from Fin Holmes only for Everton youngster Braiden Graham to net a second-half brace at Damson Park.

Matt Taylor’s side broke the deadlock after just nine minutes when Holmes drove into the penalty area and lashed a fierce strike into the top right corner of the net.

However, Everton equalised on 76 minutes when Northern Ireland youth international Graham finished past Moors goalkeeper Rory Brown from inside the penalty area.

And Graham scored his second of the game in the final minute with a dinked effort over Brown from Francis Okoronkwo’s defence-splitting pass.

Solihull travel to Sutton United on Saturday, August 16 with kick-off at 3pm at the VBS Community Stadium.
