Balsall Common Primary School pupils raise over £2k for Birmingham Children's hospital

PUPILS in year one at Balsall Common Primary School have raised a remarkable £2,322.85 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, writes Hannah Taylor.

As part of their exciting campaign to raise money for the hospital, the children challenged themselves to walk and skip 5,000 steps each around the school field.

This was followed by a teddy bears’ picnic where pupils brought their own stuffed toys from home and there was a cake sale after school.

Amanda Devlin, from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, said: “The support from young children and the broader community is incredibly moving.

“Efforts like this not only raise vital funds but also foster a powerful sense of hope and togetherness.”

As well as raising funds for the hospital, the project has taught the pupils valuable lessons about empathy, community support and social responsibility.

Claire Revell, year one lead, said: “Beyond fundraising, this project encourages our children to learn about care, community and the difference even small actions can make.”
