A HOSPITAL radio is calling on kind-hearted residents to dig deep and help keep them on air.
BHBN is Birmingham’s oldest hospital charity, broadcasting for over 70 years to patients across Birmingham’s and the Solihull hospitals — entirely run by volunteers.
With Integrated Care Board (ICB) budget cuts looming radio bosses fear the station’s future is at risk.
Callum MacNicol at BHBN said: “For many in the hospital, BHBN is more than a station. It’s a lifeline — a friendly voice, a familiar song, a message from home — bringing comfort in a time of uncertainty.
“But staying on air costs money. From equipment and licensing to streaming and studio upkeep, every hour relies on sponsorship and donations.
“With local ICB budget cuts looming, our future is at risk.
“Whether it’s spare change, a one-off donation, or sponsoring a show as a business — every contribution makes a real difference.”
