A MAN who fired shots with a sawn-off shotgun at a house in Olton has been jailed.

Donaldo Mateau, of no fixed address, has been sentenced for 12 and a half years by Birmingham Crown Court.

The court heard in July the 35-year-old drove a van towards Brookvale Road before climbing out and pointing the gun at the house, firing two shots.

West Midlands Police said CCTV examined by officers saw Mateau use the van earlier that evening driving to a nearby pub.

And he was also spotted changing and replacing the number plates on the van.

Mateau was arrested during a firearms warrant by officers in Oscott School Lane.

The force said: “The property Mateau was found in had been turned into a cannabis farm, with two live firearms found hidden in a sofa as well as ammunition.

“When officers interviewed Mateau, he denied being responsible for the shooting or knowing anything about it.

“He said he had been inside the cannabis farm being forced to work tending the plants, knowing nothing of the guns.”
