BIRMINGHAM Bears claimed a thrilling one-wicket win against rivals Worcestershire Rapids in the T20 Blast.
The Bears bowled the Rapids out for just 134 as Dan Mousley starred with the ball at Edgbaston.
However, the Bears struggled with the bat, losing nine wickets, before Sam Hain guided the home side to victory with three balls to spare.
The result means Birmingham sit fifth in the T20 Blast North Group standings.
The Bears won the toss and elected to bowl as Rapids openers Isaac Mohammed (19) and Kashif Ali (19) put on 39 runs for the first wicket.
However, Mousley (4-19) bowled Mohammed and also accounted for Jake Libby (0) in the same over.
And Danny Briggs (2-20) then claimed the wicket of Ali to leave the visitors on 43-3 at the end of the seventh over.
Rapids skipper Adam Hose (25) looked to rebuild to Worcestershire innings only for Mousley to strike again to remove the visiting captain.
The wickets continued to fall as Jake Lintott (2-27) claimed the scalp of Gareth Roderick (2) before Briggs returned to the attack to snare Ethan Brookes (10).
Mousley picked up his fourth wicket when he had Tom Taylor (10) caught to leave the Rapids in trouble on 98-7.
Late runs from Ben Dwarshuis (26) helped boost Worcestershire’s total before he fell to the bowling of Lintott.
Hasan Ali (1-22) and Ed Barnard (1-19) wrapped up the tail with the Rapids all out for just 134 in 18.4 overs.
The Bears made a solid enough start with the bat as Alex Davies (42) found the boundary eight times.
However, Tom Latham (6) fell cheaply to Dwarshuis (3-32) before Davies followed soon after to the bowling of Fateh Singh (3-18).
Jacob Duffy (2-24) then accounted for Mousley (12) to leave the Bears on 71-3.
The wicket of Moeen Ali (4) sparked a mini-collapse as Dwarshuis returned to snare the veteran all-rounder.
And Singh then accounted for Barnard (1) and Kai Smith (0) in consecutive balls as the Bears slipped to 86-6.
Hain (38 not out) and George Garton (13) added some much-needed runs to help Birmingham past the 100-run mark.
However, Garton fell to Duffy while Matthew Waite (1-25) accounted for Briggs in the following over.
Ali (11) came to the crease and hit a four and a six before he became Dwarshuis’s third scalp which left the Rapids one wicket from victory.
However, Hain and Lintott (1 not out) secured the derby day spoils for the Bears with just three balls to spare.
Warwickshire have now returned to County Championship action with the Bears currently up against Somerset at Edgbaston.
