POLICE in Solihull have been taking part in Operation Advance and had several good results.
The 24-hour policing operation has been carried out in response to concerns raised by residents across the borough.
From drugs warrants and off road bike operations in our parks to traffic and vehicle crime hot spot patrols it was a full day that saw 18 arrests for a range of offences including including theft of motor vehicle, wounding, domestic abuse harassment and theft from shops.
Throughout the day, neighbourhood officers were joined by specialist traffic teams to conduct a multi-agency road safety operation (MARSO) on Stratford Road.
During the operation, police stopped 35 vehicles for checks and issued 30 tickets for illegal plates and tints.
In addition, officers seized two vehicles for no insurance and arrested two people on suspicion of serious assault and drug driving.
A suspected stolen motorbike was seized following an operation around Babbs Mill Park to tackle off-road bikes.
The bike was recovered and will be reunited with its rightful owner.
Officers continued to showcase our partnership with Solihull Council and the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership in a collaborative effort to address violence in the area.
The work is aimed at preventing and reducing violence by speaking with young people members of the community to understand its root causes and work together to address them.
Officers from the Chelmsley Wood Neighbourhood team engaged with members of the community near the bus interchange.
This work gives officers the chance for early intervention and to offer support to young people who have been affected by violence or who are at risk of being involved in violence.
On the late shift, officers conducted a speeding operation in Church Hill Road due to ongoing concerns.
The operation is part of an ongoing partnership approach which includes the neighbourhood team working with Solihull Council on traffic calming measures and increased enforcement and patrols in the area.
