A CARE home resident took a trip down memory lane to relive his life-long passion for horses.
William ‘Billy’ Irving, aged 92, visited Riding for the Disabled Association in Shrewley, Warwickshire where he had the opportunity to ride a mechanical horse, pet horses, and tour the grounds.
Billy said: “I loved seeing the horses in their paddocks and being able to pat some. I am looking forward to visiting again.”
The Priory Bupa Care Home arranged for Billy, who has a life-long love and passion for horse racing and show jumping, to relive his childhood memories.
Activity Coordinators, Chris, Rosie and Pat, along with volunteer, John, accompanied Billy to the school.
Home manager at The Priory Cheryl Harbourne said: “The riding association in Shrewley was fantastic for Billy! He especially loved the mechanical horse. It was a great day, and he has shared his excitement for his next visit.
“Billy always shares his fond memories of his life spent with horses. He remembers being friends with Frankie Dettori and Lester Piggot at the races and has photos of himself on horseback in his room, along with photos and letters with both the infamous jockeys.”
