AN AUSCHWITZ survivor’s story premiered on the big screen in Solihull.

Survivor – a film based on the first person testimony of Ivor Perl in his book Chicken Soup Under the Tree was shown for the first time in schools at Solihull School.

The showing was attended by students from around the Midlands and was followed by a question and answer session with director and animator Zoom Rockman and executive producer, and Old Silhillian, Nigel Canin.

Head of the Prep School, Mark Penney, said: “It was an honour for us to be the first school in the world to host a screening of Survivor.

“It is a remarkable piece of work, not just in terms of its visual innovation or its impact but also, as became clear during the question and answer session afterwards, in the efforts Zoom Rockman went to, to ensure its authenticity. Its potential for impact in Holocaust and genocide education cannot be overstated.

“It is, in my view, a film that all students, everywhere should become familiar with.”
