Fitness fanatic takes on mammoth run and cycle challenges for dad

A FITNESS fanatic is set to run and cycle more than 200miles in honour of his dad.

Liam Roberts will be taking on a number of physical challenges to to raise awareness of a very complex and difficult condition his dad suffers with; chronic hoarding and raise funds for Clouds End CIC.

Clouds End CIC is a social enterprise who help people to understand why people hoard and how it affects them with a view to working effectively together through training and self-education.

Liam will be kicking off his series this weekend as he takes on the 13.1mile AJ Bell Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday (May 4).

He will then take on the 8.5mile Royal Sutton Coldfield Fun Run on June 1.

He will then be hopping on his bike for two 100mile challenges – the St Giles Spring Ride in Whittington on June 8 and The Dragon Ride Medio Fondo Route in Port Talbot Wales on June 22.

He has set out to raise £2,000 for Clouds End CIC, who he has worked with over the past months for skips and guidance.

Liam said following his mum’s death almost 20 years ago, his dad lived alone and over this time his mental health declined and his hoarding has accelerated to the point where his home became completely floor to ceiling full, inaccessible, and sadly unliveable.

He added: “This was further exacerbated by him being diagnosed with early onset dementia in late 2024. The unsustainable situation reached a head in early 2025 when he was sadly hospitalised.

“For those who have met and know my Dad, they will know his generosity knows no limits, and will also no doubt have been educated at length by his encyclopaedic knowledge of all manner of things! He is truly unique and always wants to support people.

“As his only child, I am determined to do the right thing and do everything I can to help him.

“I have spent the last three months to date supporting him through this difficult time whilst working tirelessly alongside professional teams to clear his house and bring his house back to life.

“Along this journey I have received amazing support from his neighbours, friends, professional clearance and cleaning teams and have built a strong relationship with Heather Matuozzo, founder of Clouds End.”
