A SOLIHULL author has been shortlisted for her debut romantic novel.
Shelley Wilson has made it to the final in the Debut Romantic Novel Award category at the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) Romantic Novel Awards 2025 for her novel, Floating Solo.
The awards celebrate excellence in romantic fiction in all its forms.
The mum of three said: “I was in the pouring rain on my way to Birmingham New Street Station when I found out I’d been shortlisted.
“There may have been a giddy dancing in the rain moment! Being a part of the RNA Awards feels like a dream come true.”
Shelley is a multi-genre author and a writing mentor for new writers who want to share their stories but don’t know where to start.
The chair of the RNA, Seána Talbot said: “This year’s shortlist is a tremendous testament to romantic fiction’s diversity and strength.
“We are proud to celebrate these outstanding books and this exciting mix of new and established writers. They make a vital contribution to this popular, much-loved genre.”
The awards, which began in 1960, celebrate the very best of romantic fiction and are highly respected within the UK publishing industry.
Over the past 64 years, winners have included bestselling authors Santa Montefiore, Joe Heap, Julie Cohen and Milly Johnson.
The finalists represent both independent and traditional publishers, reflecting romantic fiction’s dynamic market.
Winners will be anounce at a ceremony in London in May.
