KIND-HERTED residents are being called on put their best foot forward on Saturday (April 5) in honour of a former Coventry Rugby Club player.
Matt’s Run 2025 will feature a 3km walk/run at the Old Silhillians Rugby Club on Warwick Road in Knowle with participants raising funds for the Matt Gallagher Foundation.
The Foundation was set up in honour of the Solihull resident who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2023.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Matt has confronted the challenge with positivity and determination.
Along with his family, Matt is focused on raising awareness about MND and providing immediate support to those affected, particularly in the West Midlands.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has raised over £600,000 and has supported 35 West Midlands families living with MND through funding home adaptations and helping create cherished memories.
The foundation collaborates with other MND charities, including the MNDA and My Name5 Doddie, to further its mission.
Matt, a former professional rugby player with Coventry Rugby Club, has used his connections and current role in the land and planning industry to rally support for the cause.
His commitment to fighting MND extends beyond fundraising; he is dedicated to fostering hope through research and providing vital support to those living with the disease.
Matt’s Run 2025 is part of a series of events aimed at engaging the community and raising awareness about MND.
In addition to Matt’s Run 2025, the Matt Gallagher Foundation hosts an annual ball, which raised an impressive £330,000 in 2024.
This year’s ball will take place on May 3, continuing the foundation’s work to support MND families and advance research efforts.
Hollie-mae Gallagher, the charities manager, said: “All proceeds are dedicated to supporting those living with MND in our community. It’s about more than just fundraising; it’s about instilling hope and making a real difference in the lives of MND warriors.
“Matt’s courage in the face of a terminal diagnosis has inspired many, and the event is a reflection of the growing support for the foundation.
“The 3km walk/run will unite people in the fight against MND, and participants will join Matt in his mission to improve the lives of those affected by the disease.”
Registration for Matt’s Run 2025 opens at noon and the event begins at 1pm.
