KNOWLE’S title hopes suffered a blow after the Robins dropped more points in a 1-1 draw against Central Ajax.

The visitors fell behind to Ross Barnett’s early goal before Nathan Corry levelled the game in first-half injury time at Ajax Park.

And the result means Knowle sit 10 points clear at the top of the Midland Football League Division Two table although second-placed Northfield Town have four games in-hand.

The home side made a fast start and took the lead on nine minutes when Barnett cut in from the right and found the net from 20-yards out.

In a half of few chances, Knowle equalised at the end of the first period as Corry turned home a corner to send the teams in level at the break.

The Robins turned the screw in the final 20 minutes and should have snatched the points late on.

However, substitute Jay Rendell hit the crossbar from four-yards out with the goal at his mercy when attempting to turn home Odane Barnes’ cross from the right.

Knowle are next in action against Coventry Alvis on Saturday, March 22 with kick-off at 3pm at the Draintech Community Stadium.
