HOCKLEY Heath residents are being called on to have their say on South Warwickshire’s plans to build around the village.
Saqib Bhatti, Meriden and Solihull East MP has written to his constituents within the Hockley Heath Parish informing them that the South Warwickshire Local Plan will be entering another public consultation phase, giving residents a third opportunity to voice their opinions.
Residents, businesses and other stakeholders are to be invited to have their say on the Preferred Options version of South Warwickshire Local Plan (2050) for the combined areas of both Warwick District and Stratford on Avon District Councils for the next 25 years.
The Plan will be the basis upon which all planning applications will be determined within South Warwickshire in a way that supports those needs and how it address issues around climate change, biodiversity, connectivity, and resident wellbeing.
It will include the identification of 36 emerging housing and employment growth location options (12 potential new settlement and 24 strategic growth location options) across
South Warwickshire which are considered to be potentially suitable growth locations. An area (SG224) both to the east and west of Hockley Heath is one such strategic growth option.
The Preferred Options consultation will provide an opportunity for residents to have their say on the emerging Local Plan.
Once adopted, the Plan will set out how both Councils intend to deliver the housing and employment and infrastructure development required to meet their needs up to 2050 whilst also protecting local open spaces, green belt and countryside from unplanned development.
Mr Bhatti said: “While the sites are not within my constituency nor the borough of Solihull, I recognise these sites will have a significant detrimental impact upon Hockley Heath through increased traffic and congestion; pressure on local services such as schools, GPs and dentists.
“As the MP for Meriden and Solihull East, which includes the Parish of Hockley Heath, I would encourage residents of the parish to take a closer look at the emerging plan and make their views known on the preferred options identified to date.
“Hard copies of the consultation are available in Warwickshire libraries, the nearest one to Hockley Heath being Henley Community Library.
“I have asked for a hard copy of the consultation to be available at a community facility within Hockley Heath, given the impact any development may have on Hockley Heath and I am pleased that the South Warwickshire Local Plan team have agreed to provide physical copies of the documents to the local Parish Council offices for residents to view.”
The Councils will be running a series of in person and online events to promote the consultation and really want people to respond and make their comments on the emerging plan.
The consultation runs until March 7.
