I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude for everyone who gave their time and effort from all sides during the last General Election. We are extremely fortunate in this country to be able to express our views freely and elect our representatives.
I would like to thank everyone from the political activists to the counters at the polling station for helping our democracy stand tall.
I would also like to add that it has been and will continue to be a privilege, to serve as the MP for Meriden and Solihull East.
As the year draws to a close, and Christmas is in sight, I find myself reflecting on that year that has passed. We have seen a change in Government, a heartbreaking Euro’s competition, and a sweeping tide of change across the world. The fast paced and full-on year probably explains why I have the sensation last Christmas feels so far away, yet also so close!
I hope that for all, this Christmas is a time of happiness and joy, for all those celebrating it, be it with family or alone, I hope you have a peaceful and reflective Christmas. I would also like to share a thought of thanks for all those who will be working this Christmas. The firefighters, healthcare workers, police officers, members of the armed forces and all the other professions who can’t put work on hold.
I hope that you stay safe over this period, and I hope you get time to spend with those you love. Thank you for providing such a valuable service and for keeping us all safe.
As we go into the New Year, I like to think back on all the amazing people and opportunities I have come across over the last year. Some of these amazing people I met with just last week, meeting with the local Post Office sorting staff, working tirelessly to ensure Christmas is on time, for everyone across Solihull and Meriden.
Finally, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2025.
