Arrests made in Solihull during County Lines dawn raids

Solihull Editorial 19th Dec, 2024   0

POLICE say officers have dismantled a suspected county lines drugs network following a series of dawn raids.

Addresses in Hall Green, Sheldon, Acocks Green, Sheldon, Bordesley Green, Shard End, Yardley, Stechford and Alum Rock were raided in the early hours of December 18, along with one in the Birchills area of Walsall.

Four men and two women, aged between 22 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

West Midlands Police said: “Electronic devices and around 500 wraps of what is believed to be heroin has been found.

“It follows an investigation by the County Lines Task Force into a drugs line believed to have been supplying Class A drugs into Birmingham and Solihull throughout this year.”

County lines is the name given to drug dealing where organised criminal groups use phone lines to move and supply drugs, usually from cities into smaller towns and rural areas.

They are known to exploit vulnerable people, including children and those with mental health or addiction issues, by recruiting them to distribute the drugs.
