SCHOOLS, businesses and Councillors from across Solihull are being called on to put forward their tributes to take part in a Hunger Games style charity event.
Ryan Hulance, founder of We Can Community CIC, has joined forces with Caremark Solihull and Anawim Birmingham’s Centre for Women for the games which are designed to inspire teamwork, problem-solving, and community spirit, all while raising awareness and support families in need.
In true Hunger Games style (minus the life-or-death stakes!), participants will be divided into ‘districts’ and points will be earned for tackling community challenges, spreading hunger awareness, and participating in acts of kindness.
Ryan supports Solihull foodbank network by collecting empty drink cans and uses funds to donate much-needed items.
And now he wants and now wants to add chocolate tubs to his range to raise more support for charity.
In Ryan’s vision, the Hunger Games-inspired event will take place every year, running from December through April, with a target of collecting 40,000 to 50,000 chocolate tubs.
Ryan said: “It’s sad to know that millions of reusable items go to waste instead of helping others.
“This event gives us the chance to work together, make the most of what we have, and give back to those who need it the most. With everyone’s help, I know we can make an even greater impact.
“Now is the time for all of us, including our elected representatives, to come together and support our community during these challenging times. I hope they’ll join us in this fight against hunger and lead by example.”
Each participant – whether an individual, a school, a business, or a organisation will join one of twelve districts, each representing a core value such as kindness, resilience, and teamwork: District Unity, District Hope, District Generosity, District Courage, District Kindness, District Harmony, District Strength, District Compassion, District Brilliance, District Joy, District Empowerment, and District Awareness. Participants can join individually or as a group, representing their school, organization, or club.
The Games run until April 30.
