A DICKENS Heath football club has welcomed a new sponsor.
Insurance broker Howden Solihull is the proud new sponsor of Leafield Athletic U18s football team, one of the oldest clubs in the area.
The new partnership also included the launch of a Boot Exchange to recycle and reuse football boots and help young players in Solihull keep playing.
Located at Leafield Athletic FC on Rumbush Lane residents are being called on to donate, exchange or pick up a pair of second-hand football boots, helping even more children play on the pitch, keep active and develop new skills.
Eamon Doyle, branch manager at Howden Solihull said: “At Howden, one of our core principles is of Collective Power, which emphasises how all our individual talents can be combined to deliver the best results.
“We’re therefore delighted to be sponsoring Leafield Athletic U18s, a group of skilled players who combine their individual sporting talents to play as a united team and meet any challenge on the pitch.
“Football is much more than just kicking a ball; the social and physical benefits have long-lasting effects.
“Training together builds character, builds bonds which can last a lifetime both on and off the pitch, and provides an escape from stresses in their lives.
“We’re delighted that we can also work together to help local families with a fun and sustainable scheme that makes sure everyone who wants to play football can do so, with our Boot Exchange.”
Richard Smith, team manager at Leafield Athletic U18s said: “We thank Howden for their support in sponsoring our team.
“It’s great to see a company not only invest in major professional teams like the British Lions but also in grassroots football and clubs like ours, at a time where all clubs at this level need support and investment.”
